Blog Question: Is bullying a rite of passage of childhood and adolescence? Is it apart of the maturation process one needs to go through to reach adulthood? Explain. Mrs. Hogeboom brings up this topic on page 108.
Answer: Well no I do not think that bullying is the right passage of childhood and adolescence and is not a maturation process that one needs to go through to reach adulthood because like in the book The Revealers, Mrs. Hogeboom said exactly that:"But i think the establishment isn't so much people as it is people's assumptions.I mean, people assume these sorts of incidents are a fact of life at your age. We tend to say 'Oh well, kids will be kids'. It's almost like we assume that cruelty and violence are part of growing up. I wonder why we assume that?" I think it is this is completely true because why would we assume that? no person should go through bullying as a right passage of childhood and adolescence to become an adult because bullying can really change kids as they become adults.
